| Ballast "sound asleep" CD [Profane Existence] Ten songs of intense anarchopunk from Montreal's Ballast. Their music is an urgent mix of hardcore, crust, and classic peace-punk influences, with the songs being lengthy and very-well structured. The most striking element of their sound are the female-fronted vocal delivery, which is powerful, yet melodic and emotive too, and harmonizes wickedly with the more gruff, male backing vocals. This album has a lot of the same feeling/sound that Anti-Product's "the silence of grinding gears" LP did, great music coupled with a message of urgency and sincerity! |
| Behind Enemy Lines "know your enemy" CD [Profane Existence] Members of Aus-Rotten, React, and Mankind? team up for a brilliant release that combines all the best aspects of their previous bands and rolls it into one pulverising and politically charged band. The music is unrelentingly hard and heavy with some amazing drumming and great political and socially aware lyrics. this was originally released by Tribal War Records and has now been repressed and repackaged in a jewell case instead of the Crass style fold out poster sleeve that the original pressing had. |
| Boycot "total boycot" discography CD [Angry Records - Italy] Boycot have always been a band that has supported and lived the DIY ideaology to it's fullest. They went head to head with Epitaph Records Europe and made them look like fools in the pages of an old issue of Profane Existence. But Boycot were more than just outspoken political punks, they played great music too that has always been extremely hard to get a hold of. This CD puts together all eight of their EPs, split EPs, plus comp tracks onto one format. If you never heard Boycot, you will surely appreciate this bands ability to combine ripping thrash sounds, with serious political messages, and a good sense of humor. Everyone will appreciate the fact that all of this bands great songs have finally been collected together for your moshing and thrashing pleasure! |
| Caustic Christ "can't relate" CD [Havoc Records] Caustic Christ features ex-members of bands such as Aus Rotten, the Pist, React and Broken and this is their first full length. The result is one of the most unique "sounds" in current hardcore because they mix the bass heavy drive of Swedish crust with the high octane thrash of American Fast Core. The lyrics and music sound so aggressive and pissed off the speakers can barely contain the rage. Lyrically the straightforward agitprop of Aus Rotten has been replaced by a more bleak form of social commentary based on a desperate alienation. But critics who think Caustic Christ have distanced themselves from political statements should read the lyrics to Satisfied Means Pacified and other tracks on this LP. The cover artwork is by Tommy Gun who also did the 7" and shirt artwork. |

| Conflict "now you've put your foot in it" CDEP [Mortarhate Records - U.K.] the newest release from Conflict featuring 2 new songs, one of which deals with Foot and Mouth Disease and the other about the need for activism and resistance to occur on all levels. Sound wise this takes the same styles of older Conflict material and adds a bit of a more Crass type style to it as well. The Cd includes a fold out insert with lyrics and information as well as a bunch of full color photos from the WTO and from the Foot and Mouth Disease "clean up" in Europe. |
| Counterblast "impassivity" CD [Life on the Edge Records - Malaysia] The first new release from the almighty Counterblast in several years. Monumental crust from Sweden with a very unique style that blends elements of crust, metal and somewhat ambient, eerie and tribal sounding music together. You can hear some influences from other bands such as Dystopia and Neurosis in parts, but Counterblast's is something truly unique that must be experienced to understand how amazing this is. |
| Crimenes de Guerra "sangre rebelde" CD [La Femi Records/Chaman Records] 12 tracks of anarchist crust/thrash from Mexico City that will beat your ass. This is some seriously brutally aggressive music with male & female vocals dropping some great political lyrics. All lyrics are sung in Spanish with English translations in the booklet. |
| NEW! Elektroduendes "salgo a la calle" CD [Grita o Muere Records - Spain] An amazing new 12 song full length from Elektroduendes. Melodic anarchopunk from Spain with female vocals and a super catchy, sing along style of music. This will have you hooked from the first song. |
| From Ashes Rise / Victims split CD [Havoc Records] From Ashes Rise plays dark, slightly metallic hardcore that is not unlike early His Hero Is Gone mixed with Scandinavian hardcore like Skitystem and 80's UK crust like Antisect. Drawing on those influences From Ashes Rise has moved this sound into it's own territory so to simply label it "Tennessee style" hardcore would be oversimplifying their sonic progression. From Ashes Rise recorded at Polymorph in the Bay Area and the production is intense and flawless. Victims are from Sweden and play aggressive, fast Scandinavian hardcore not unlike early Skitsystem or Wolfbrigade. You can hear the influence of early Swedish hardcore like Anti-Cimex, Shitlickers and Crude SS mixed with the heavier sounds of 90's crust core. The cover artwork is a new piece from Pushead and is amazing as always. Every single detail of this record is simply amazing. |
| Garmonbozia s/t CD [Profane Existence] Garmonbozia was a band that we got the pleasure of playing with during Contravene's last tour and we were just blown away by how amazing they were. Haunting crust from Minneapolis with female vocals and cello, with music that varies from quiet and intricate melodies to full-on raging thrash parts. Something like if Monuments to Ruins teamed up with Remains of the Day... |

LP (their second amazing full-length LP from 1994), plus two studio-recorded tracks from the original 1988 line-up, with Al on vocals, including the unreleased song New Years Day. |
| Misery "the early years" CD [Crimes Against Humanity] near complete collection of early Misery recordings compiled, edited, and remastered by none other than your humble web designer! Includes nearly all the tracks from their early 7s: Born Fed Slaughtered, Blinded, and Children of War. Also included are their side of the split LP with SDS and almost the entire Production Through Destruction LP. Needless to say, this is an important collection of late 80's and early 90's crust that influenced the scene in Minneapolis and beyond for years to come. |
| the Now Denial "viva viva threatening" CD [Sabotage - Germany] The Now Denial blasts out eleven political punk hardcore songs that have a doom laden feel. Musically this is straight forwarded d-beat punk hardcore on which I can make references to From Ashes Rise, The Black Hand, Severed Head State, Wolfpack and Tragedy. There's something desperate, gloomy going in here that gives me thrills, while The Now-Denial still handles a pissed off punk attitude that reflects itself in their music. |
