Amebix "the power remains" LP [Skuld Releases - Germany]
combining the perfect mix of crust, melody and dirge Amebix were truly an amazing band; filled with power and feeling. This LP features 8 songs, 4 of which were recorded in the studio and 4 of which were recorded live. As with all Amebix material, the lyrics are both political and poetic and add so much to the music. Amen 81 "zurueck aus tasamanien" LP [Bilharziose - Germany]
a 3 piece from Germany playing straight up angry hardcore punk with pissed vocals to match. At some points this reminds me of the more aggressive Oi Polloi music, but with angrier vocals which gives it a totally impacting energy. Comes packaged in a gatefold sleeve with a newspaper style booklet with the lyrics (all of which are in German) and a sticker. |

Armistice/ Ciril split LP [Know Records]
a great new offering from Armistice that takes their sound to a completely new level. It still has all the fast rage that it always has, but now it seems that there is more time put into writing the songs, with a bit more complicated structure and writing style and some really moving melodic breaks that make this release stand out from all their previous recordings. This also includes the song "words of war" which is one of my favorite Armistice songs ever and featres Patty doing the vocal work as well! Ciril is a crazy wierd band from Long Beach with wierd ass lyrics about domination rioting and other stuff like that. In a lot of ways they remind of early Bay Area stuff like the Blatz but in a lot of ways they don't...I don't know...crazy stuff. |

Aus-Rotten "the rotten agenda" LP [Rotten Propaganda Records]
A very impacting release from Aus Rotten that, sadly, ended up being their last. Aus Rotten created a very indiviual sound by combinging elements of streetpunk, anarchopunk and crust in their music. Their lyrics are all very intelligent and insightful, covering political issues in a very realistic and down to earth way that makes it impossible to ignore the urgency of these subjects. Adiran (ex-Spitboy) does more vocals on this LP with them and totally adds impact to every song that she is on. Comes with 2 fold out posters as well. |

Ballast "sound asleep" LP [Profane Existence]
Ten songs of intense anarchopunk from Montreal's Ballast. Their music is an urgent mix of hardcore, crust, and classic peace-punk influences, with the songs being lengthy and very-well structured. The most striking element of their sound are the female-fronted vocal delivery, which is powerful, yet melodic and emotive too, and harmonizes wickedly with the more gruff, male backing vocals. This album has a lot of the same feeling/sound that Anti-Product's "the silence of grinding gears" LP did, great music coupled with a message of urgency and sincerity! |

BLACK MARKET FETUS are from Des Moines, Iowa and are, quite simply, brutal as fuck.
